You must have missed the couple of months closure after the embankment collapsed! It never got much publicity at the time because something happened down West. Somewhere called Dawlish if I recall.

That was the one a half mile south of Botley, which as you say was not really as highly publicised as Dawlish. It reopened in March 2014, with work ongoing for a number of months afterwards.

But I was writing in the earlier post about another completely separate embankment problem that they are still working on now, almost two years later, and located much nearer Eastleigh.
