Trent Valley currently completely blocked between Nuneaton and Rugby due to a fallen tree bringing the wires down - as well as Preston - Kirkham. Am currently on 1M10, 09 36 GLC-EUS proceeding very sedately along the Grand Junction line, with the prospect of at least an hour's delay arriving in London.
Actually I was expecting my XC service (1O24, 1524 Manchester-Bournemouth, joined at Stockport) to be double rammed with passengers seeking alternative routes, as there seemed to be cancellations rather than diversions for several Manchester to Euston services. I thought I might not even be able to board my train, but as it turned out a delayed Euston service showed up just in front of it so my Voyager was only normally rammed.
Severe congestion approaching Birmingham, presumably related to the diversions, but I was quite enjoying watching it on Tracksy's signal maps - until we hit a mobile dead spot in Smethick, and immediately stopped for a *long* time with no info (the Voyager PA was faulty in my coach so we just heard a very faint and unintelligible whisper from the train manager). Anyhow, I got an unexpected substitute connection at New Street, so it all worked out OK.
Anyhow, glad to see you (eventually) made it to Euston at 1538 after your unexpected bonus tour through the Black Country.
