Hello rail fans :)

I've been standing on Lincoln station for about an hour (missed my train :( ) and I have realised something. The early morning hat service goes from the wrong platform, it should be platform 5 instead of 3. As I have guesstimated that 5 is about one carriage longer. And it is curve too so it will be even longer than that, maybe a carriage and an extra door.

Does anyone know why it doesn't go from this platform? I have heated some people say it is hard to get off the carriages that are off the end of 3.

Your friendly neighbourhood spider yew :)

As the train is longer than the actual station, it has to be signalled into the next section beyond (towards Barnetby), else it would sit over the High Street level crossing (have a look at Lincolnshire Echos website and do a search, you will find people can get very vocal about this particular crossing). If it was to come into Platforms 4 or 5 then it would lock up Pelham Jct and prevent any other train from coming into the station from either Barnetby or Sleaford direction.

As it stands it only locks up the route going towards Barnetby.

Its also good for passengers as they don't have to cross the bridge :D
