Hi all,

Just found out that there is supposedly more ECML diversions coming up between Peterborough and Doncaster via Lincoln. '...in the next couple of weeks' was the best to a date anyone has gotten so far.

Has anyone on here heard anything? Apparently NXEC are diverting their HSTs this way this time, so I assume GC will as well?

Looking forward to it if it is happening!

Thanks in advance for any gen,

Julian

It's the weekend 8th/9th November, NXEC are operating an hourly service from Kings Cross-Newcastle/Scotland via the joint line, calling Peterborough (picking up northbound/setting down southbound) and York only before the usual calling points. Doncaster passengers have to suffer stoppers with a bus in the middle.

Full details on the NXEC website.

Whats the betting on the fire alarms at Sunderland going mental that weekend? Is is just HST's on these diverts, or 67 hauling cl91 as well?

it's nice to see that the national rail website is up to date on these egineering works (or rather it says there aren't any on those dates)

The 40 tour? It's starting at Rawtenstall, so my guess is across to York and up to Newcastle.
The NXEC divertions? Dunno

40145 is on tour to Edinburgh that day (one I want to do for various reasons) , the Bo'ness have their 37 running day on that day too.
Can you combine both? If not, can you do tour one way - you could possibly fit all 3 in then!

Does anybody know what route the Hull Trains services are taking over the weekend? There are several services booked to run, but with extended journey times (around 3 hours from Doncaster-London), calling Retford, Grantham and KGX. Will they have to reverse at Newark?

During the Grantham and Newark blockade on 8/9 November, Hull Trains will reverse at Newark Northgate, divert via Lincoln, then reverse again at Sleaford before returning back onto ECML at Grantham.

Bit of a long way round...

I thought this was the only thing they could do, but I did wonder because, as you say, it's rather long winded! However, I'm sure the direct Retford and Doncaster to London links will be appreciated. Let's hope they try and get the 180 out or a double 222 set so they can carry as many passengers direct to Doncaster as possible without the hassle of the bus.

Hmm, I can see me getting a HT 222 off Donny just to fill in some of those gaps I need after doing a HST over the rest of the route...

Well, assuming I can push myself through an open door onto one to put up with the thing...
