Limited train service Thorpe Culvert

A number of stations on the Nottingham to Skegness only have a morning and evening service so if you travelling from Lincoln Leeds and the north places like Thorpe Culvert and other stations a trip you cannot do.
Makes me wonder if train operating companies want to close thease stations as they say nobody uses them ? Well if there not a service people will not use them, it's about time they was made request stops again.

Somehow I've managed to live all these years without ever noticing that there was a station named after a culvert.

Parliamentary services - see Stockport-Stalybridge, Teesside Airport, British Steel Redcar et al. It is cheaper to run a token service than to close or to enhance a service to the point it becomes useable (I do not know the area of Thorpe Culvert so have no idea if an hourly/once every two hours service would attract custom).

Hardly anyone lives there and Wainfleet station, where all trains stop is only just over a mile down the road.

It really isn’t as simple as train companies just “wanting to close stations”. In these cases they are usually running exactly the service that DFT have specified.

And in some cases they are carrying on the service frequencies imposed by British Rail (i.e. Pegswood/Chathill etc on the ECML).

As for Thorpe Culvert (and Havenhouse), there isn't that much around that area, a few houses close by.

Yes, good examples of something effectively set in stone, and continued basically without question or much debate.

The stations remained open to get local schoolkids to school and at approximate commuting times to the local towns, see also Hubberts Bridge and Swineshead.
