Ive been asked to ask ....
Can anybody inform whether limited hours long term part time jobs exist on the railway. By limited say one or two full days a week (say Friday or Saturday's only) as they don't seem to be advertised.
I ask this because of caring role which limits time.

Yes. SWR often advertise for part-time positions across the company.

Night Tube only runs on weekends, so a lot of the Night Tube drivers are part time

When I worked for Virgin, I had a 20 hour a week weekend only contract, with the option of working casually on weekdays and based at Euston. They also had 0 hours casual contracts. And a revenue role based at Euston for 8 hours on a Friday afternoon only.

Where I am now, still in London, I work 5 or so hours a week in a ticket office with the option of doing overtime at rest day rates. However it has been claimed that my contact is unique in the TOC.

The Underground have 16 hour contracts for Friday and Saturday nights on stations and operating the trains. You can occasionally do overtime as a licenced Ambassador.

Then there are various agencies that can provide you with casual work in London.

Some part time roles still involve working 5 days a week but as the days are shorter, may well fit around other commitments.

There are roles out there but they don't come up that often - and there is a lot of competition.
