The whole of the approach to lime street is getting remodelled, the crossovers which are currently in the tunnels will be shifted further south towards edge hill. This is because of the damage and wear and tear the equipment is receiving inside the tunnels, due to constant water dripping.
Also moving the track will allow easier maintainance to take place

Are they going to remove the electrified flyover to nowhere and make the turn towards Liv Airport 4 track and not quite as tight while they are at it :D :D.

That is a 4 track section of railway that might as well not be 4 track due to the narrowing at edge hill end and Runcorn end.
ideally you would want runcorn and beyond using the tracks for platforms 3+4 at [stn]LPY[/stn] so the manchester bound trains could have platforms 1 +2 at [stn]LPY[/stn]. but because of the layout at the ends of this strech it would mean crossing all lines to do so :((

What a waste

Have you got a source for this? You are the same person who is claiming that Northern are getting Class 350s from London Midland in another thread afterall.

The lights are for night time inspections - and are not limited to the places mentioned in this thread. They are also going in at Allerton West junction, which clearly has nothing to do with Lime Street approach.

my source is a senior network rail manager,i don't know when lime street is getting renewed, only that it is,and as above the crossovers moved towards edge hill.
I will try and put up the design for it.

A bit like your 'friend in high places' at London Midland? All sounds a bit suspicious I'm afraid. Moving the cross overs towards at Edge Hill with lower capacity.

I sign Lime Street and have heard nothing of a remodelling scheme except for this. Normally these schemes are known about long before work begins and not when lighting appears. I can't see how moving the pointwork towards Edge hill would be beneficial as they are already mostly in the open so they get wet each time it rains. The water dripping in the tunnels doesn't fall onto pointwork its in areas of plain line (near Lime Streets first gantry). There is a slow line crossover near Edge Hill but again there doesn't appear to be water either on the ground or walls. Nothing noted in the notices about a remodelling scheme either.

I only put threads on the forum if im told about them, I don't make items up.
My source's have never let me down yet.
The lights installed at lime street might be for maintainance, walkways etc but the crossovers will be moved.
You are entitled to your opinion just like me.

You sure you didn't get that from the RUS?

Lime St is resignalled in 2018. I believe getting merged with Edge Hill but that is far from certain. Merseyrail in 2020, (so possibly Allerton/Hunts Cross and Hooton/Chester merger).

Are Northern still getting 350s from London Midland too?

First Class, Lime Street box is due to be closed before the resignalling (2015), and moved to the regional control centre, so I'm not sure where the merging with Edge Hill comes from?

I second that, I also sign lime st, have noticed the led lights on the tunnel wall but have also not seen anything in the notices as to what is going on.

Don't think just because you sign the roads in 2011 that it will not change in 5/6 years time.
Trust me i will come back to this thread when it happens.

That's what it will be. Knew something was happening with Lime St & Edge Hill!

I was under the impression 2018 was the resignalling though as it was assumed Merseyrail would be resignalled soon afterwards.

Yes, sorry, closure in 2015, resignalling at a later date. I didn't phrase it very well.

Nobody is doubting or denying that the railway may change. My comment about signing the route was to point out that there is nothing in section B of the notices I recieve or mentioned anywhere else about remodelling which you seemed to give as an answer to why lighting had been installed. Now you say its 6 years away, no wonder doubt and confusion came about.

You put this so well, from being involved within the industry. This thread seemed to becoming less and less credible from comments made during thread progression, which could have been clarified much sooner.

I told you that in post #4 in this thread - don't pretend that this is new info and that you are correcting yourself.

I'm sorry who are you?
I was stating that lime street will be done, and maybe i went a bit to far as regard to the lights was something to do with that.
And if i want to correct myself i will, you or nobody else tells me what i do or type

Forgive me, I'm merely putting things into perspective. The thread asks what the lights are, you tell people that they are because they are changing Lime Street approaches. I (and others) point out that you are wrong - and on the next page of the thread you repeat the reason I had already given, showing that you were wrong.

Sorry if it didn't come across like that to you.

you are correct in saying the lights are not for the remodelling,i got carried away with myself.
I might start a new thread saying that liverpool lime street will get remodelled, then there will be no confussion
