Lights on at Down Street

When Travelling between Hyde Park Corner and Green Park today I was looking out the window and there appeared to be this quite brightly lit corridoor with hanging ceiling lights, and the Bricked up platform facade, does down street usually have its lights on or was something going on.

True for Down Street, yes, but not so for Charing Cross - the closed platforms there are always lit up.

If I remember rightly, there is some film work going on at Down Street for a documentary so that's what's going on I shouldn't wager

Public tours are currently being held in the station, so I suspect that the lights are on as part of this. They won't be on when the station isn't occupied.

This is indeed not the case for all stations. I've not noticed the lights on at Charing Cross, but I'm pretty sure there are lights on at British Museum on occasions; I have noticed that it's used to store engineering equipment and presumably sometimes people have to go down there if it's essential for checking something with the machinery.

Only if you drive into it

For some reason, Charing X is always lit up despite being unused most of the time. This must be fairly expensive to do as the only use the platforms get is the occasional special and turnround of trains when the southern part of the line is U/S
