Light Rail - Comparative driver salaries/T&C’s

Hi all.

I’m doing a research project and am trying to establish current pay grades for driving roles across the light rail / metro rail industry and sourcing some information is proving difficult.

If anyone with any knowledge of the following could post or PM me with details of drivers salary’s:

Midland Metro
Metrolink (Manchester)
Tyne and Wear Metro
Merseyrail
Luas
London Trams (Croydon)

I’m interested in the following:

Starting salary £ (€ for Luas)
Length of training period
Salary tiers (if any - I know Metrolink have them)
Top salary £/€ and time to achieve
Hours per week worked.

I’ve done an extensive search on here and the only figures I can find are on the Metrolink thread - if someone can confirm these are still current that would be helpful.

can't say for the other light rail operators
but Edinburgh trams

Starting salary £ 20000 during training and for first year.

Length of training period - 12 weeks

Salary tiers up- £2000 every year untill maximum of £26000 May have changed since I was there.

Top salary £26000 3years to achieve

Hours per week worked. around 40-45 hours a week depending on the shifts

Tyne and Wear Metro is on approximately £35k per annum, 36 hour average week. Training wage is half of full salary, training normally lasts for 5-6 months. No pay bands.

I dont work for either, however croydon were advertising a few months ago, and the trained wage was 40k.
