Lichfield TV to Stalybridge

Anyone have any bright ideas for this journey on the 9th July? I need to be in Stalybridge by 11ish and coming away after 6pm. I've done it once before via Manchester Picc, but the 10 minutes for changing isn't enough for me. I've got a disabled railcard which reduces the cost a bit. I could also travel from Tamworth rather than LTV, possibly via Sheffield. It doesn't necessarily have to be the quickest route....

I am unsure how you propose avoiding Manchester? Going via Penistone? Or via Leeds?

If you want to go via Tamworth, then a good combination of tickets might be:

Lichfield TV - Burton on Trent (Rte: Not Birmingham)
Derbyshire Wayfarer (Valid between Burton on Trent and Sheffield)
Doncaster to Stalybridge (Rte: Stockport)

(The above assumes a day return)

Yes, it is a day return.

I did try a search going via Sheffield which took me from Tamworth to York, then York to Stalybridge on the outward journey, and Stalybridge to Leeds, then Leeds to Tamworth on the return.

What I meant about Tamworth was I could start and end the journey there rather than LTV if that presented better options (rather than travel from LTV via Tamworth)

I'm not adverse to going via Manchester, but I reckon that I need longer than 10 minutes to change because of the distance to go (and with me at my slow pace because of my eyesight). The last time I did it, the train was 7 mins late which only left 3 mins to change!!!

You don't have to change at Piccadilly (11 minutes). You can use the tram and change at Victoria. Whether it is a good thing or a bad thing I'm not sure.

That would be no good as the OP would be travelling at a time when this is not valid.

9 July is a Saturday and this ticket is valid any time on weekends.

The point does however still stand about the fact that they will be travelling after the last LM service so an Any Permitted ticket will be required for Lichfield - Stoke.
