I know now it's been given a new private registration VCZ 221I think you'll find it hasn't been withdrawn.
No they haven’t, the tender was won by ‘south staffs’ & De-luxe (or whatever it’s called now) registered it commercially, meaning the tendered contract was voided.Apparently South Derbyshire Coaches have got the tender for service 1 that runs between Burton upon Trent and Tutbury.
I can't see it lasting long if it is going commercial. No they haven’t, the tender was won by ‘south staffs’ & De-luxe (or whatever it’s called now) registered it commercially, meaning the tendered contract was voided.
‘South Staffs’ will still operate the 12E (unsure of the start date).

That may be the view of Diamond, who appear to have decided that James Boddice is behind every contract loss and operator who takes work off them, doesn't mean it has any basis in reality. From talking to people who know the Burton network no one but South Derbyshire Coaches seem to think that the 1 is even remotely commercial.Apparently they are only running it till August and then the route is being passed over to Bus Link.
I can't say about the registration side though it is known that the traffic commissioner is taking their sweet time in updating registrations on their databases.however this route isn't properly registered with bustimes.org (not any timetable I can find online). Does anyone know of its official operation?
The timetable is on South Derbyshire Coaches Facebook pageIt seems that Lichfield city coaches are operating the 1 service using 877 - TFZ222 (an ADL enviro 300), however this route isn't properly registered with bustimes.org (not any timetable I can find online). The Licensing Officer are running well behind, we have some registrations that were submitted under full 42-day notice and only got uploaded for payment (so not approval just the admin has entered their details in the database for the responsible officer to review them) 10 days before the service starts and I know of some that have taken longer to get processed. The big issue this causes is that if you have a new service you don't get the registration number allocated to the service until it is uploaded but BODs is set up such that it won't properly upload data if anything is missing so without that registration number being entered in the data the data won't be publicly available. It is perfectly possible to have done everything right and it not to work because you are still waiting on the Licensing Office to complete the paperwork.I can't say about the registration side though it is known that the traffic commissioner is taking their sweet time in updating registrations on their databases.
With regards to bustimes.org, this is because as the time of writing, they haven't added the 1 to their Bus Open Data dataset. Though they may update this or bustimes may change their sources to drag the route data down from Traveline.
Operators not using EBSR are facing significant delays with the team that process Bus Registrations. Understand that so long as operators have submitted to normal paperwork with at least 42 days notice for standard service registrations, they become officially accepted when the TC gets around to it.It seems that Lichfield city coaches are operating the 1 service using 877 - TFZ222 (an ADL enviro 300), however this route isn't properly registered with bustimes.org (not any timetable I can find online). Perhaps it is dependent on which Bods supplier you use but Ticketer open data can send unregistered routes to Bods and it all works sending the data out to journey planners. It shows up on BODS as UZ000[NOC CODE] and bods accepts this. The Licensing Officer are running well behind, we have some registrations that were submitted under full 42-day notice and only got uploaded for payment (so not approval just the admin has entered their details in the database for the responsible officer to review them) 10 days before the service starts and I know of some that have taken longer to get processed. I prefered the E300, in recent weeks its been swapped to a white Ex London E200.It seems that Lichfield city coaches are operating the 1 service using 877 - TFZ222 (an ADL enviro 300), however this route isn't properly registered with bustimes.org (not any timetable I can find online). Their upcoming suspension?I prefered the E300, in recent weeks its been swapped to a white Ex London E200.
Although given their upcoming suspension I am worried about the 1.
Their upcoming suspension?
In find that a suspension in line with Statutory Document 10 is appropriate in this case. This Operator, and Mrs. Rymer, needs an opportunity to step back and review the issues identified and put in place a significant number of systems and improvements. This, in my view, needs to be done without the distraction of attempting to run any vehicles whilst an important period of reflection and practical improvement takes place. I also consider that a 21-day suspension, which falls right in the middle of the 14 to 28 day range suggested in Stat. Doc 10 for a case in the serious category, is proportionate. I hope, also, that it serves to impress upon Mrs. Rymer the importance of compliance with all conditions and undertakings in the.
I therefore make a direction that this licence be suspended from 23:45 on 18 July 2025, until 23:45 08 August 2025. This timeframe is established to ensure minimal disruption to school services, and for alternative arrangements to be made for registered services, both of which are reliant upon this Operator.
Thanks. I honestly can't see the 1 being run by another operator as it is covered by Diamond/Trent on other routes for much of it.![]()

It was mentioned on the Huleys thread this recent case with the TC (Traffic Commissioner). I do hope that something is put in place for the stagecarrige work. The TC has been lenient and given a grace period but a week out still no idea what will happen.
That will be a shame. It was gonna be a South Staffs route on tender till South Derbyshire opted to give it a go commercially. It would be better suited for the former with their mini buses.Thanks. South Staffs may integrate it with the school runs they do now. Having used the service a couple of times in the past I got the impression it isn't very well used compared to the 401/402 and the villager. That will be a shame. It's a mixed bag. I know during the new street closure it was so busy rear door was needed for exiting standees. Tbh I prefer the 1 & 401 to the Villager as it drops me at the top of the hill. It's one of them ones where it's a high % of ENCT customers and that's sadly only a pittance of fare payers. The 1 is a bit of a odd route it draws in then let's down, worth remembering the Tutbury Jinny was the last Midland Classic brand before Diamond took over Wetmore Road. I do feel for the residents in the west end of Stretton though as it is a awful long way for an alternative bus.South Staffs may integrate it with the school runs they do now. Just looking on bus times and it appears the 1 and 84 has tracked today.![]()

I just saw a 1 in town. To me that seems like they're being a bit naughty.Just looking on bus times and it appears the 1 and 84 has tracked today.
Apparently the suspension was delayed by a week as one of the schools they serve haven't broken up yet so I assume it will run from 23:45 on 25th July to 23:45 on 15th August. There is a suggestion a temporary operator has been arranged for the service work during the period of suspension.I just saw a 1 in town. To me that seems like they're being a bit naughty.
Oh ok I missed that one. Hopefully there is. I do hope they can sort their issues although we shall see what happens on Monday.Apparently the suspension was delayed by a week as one of the schools they serve haven't broken up yet so I assume it will run from 23:45 on 25th July to 23:45 on 15th August. Yes, John Port in Etwall is still open. I have seen some of the South Derbyshire vehicles in the bus park during the day when going through on the villager.Apparently the suspension was delayed by a week as one of the schools they serve haven't broken up yet so I assume it will run from 23:45 on 25th July to 23:45 on 15th August. Apparently South Derbyshire Coaches is under someone else’s license?Yes, John Port in Etwall is still open. I have seen some of the South Derbyshire vehicles in the bus park during the day when going through on the villager.
Interesting to see that the operator (South Derbyshire) was represented at the hearing by Mrs Beverley Bell of Beverley Bell Consulting Limited.![]()
