A couple of years ago when I went walking near the line with a friend in Brownhills, we noticed one of the brand new reflectove disc style 20mph speed boards erected with a new post. The whole area was surrounded by trees and bushes and near an overbridge. The relevant section had not been used for many years, being well beyond the old oil terminal.

I know that this information is not about the Lichfield - brownhills line, but the recent West Midland RUS, mentioned the possibility of reopening the Walsall to Aldridge line (ex Midland Rly) and the possibility of even electrifing it. Also I have read that there is also a consideration of electrifing the Walsall to Rugeley line as well. So it is not beyond the possibility that they are also considering at least reopening Walsall to Brownhills, or even through to Lichfield TV. If that was the case I feel there is also a need to look at reopening the line on from Lichfield TV through to Alrewas jucntion. Any or all of these potential extension would be beneficial to the people of the West Midlands.

Aldridge will get a passenger service at some point, but the idea of re-opening of Walsall - Brownhills and on to Lichfield is a freight thing. If Stourbridge - Pleck gets re-opened then it basically would become one big bypass of Brum and the Water Orton corridor.
