It follows the ‘branch line’ of the old Lias Line railway route creating a safer, and more direct, link between Offchurch Greenway and Long Itchington....
The map suggests it is possible to walk from Leamington Spa to Long Itchington, except it is a bit unclear around the HS2 works, where it appears there is a temporary route until a new bridge is constructed:

However the following suggests that the part of the route from Stonebridge Lane to the HS2 site is currently pointless and, if you walk it, you have to go back to Stonebridge Lane:

This will eventually take you over the Fosse Way once HS2 complete the bridge in 2024. In the meantime, to continue on the NCN, you will need to turn back and exit on Stonebridge Lane and follow signs that lead to Leamington.

Has anyone walked/cycled this route recently?

Does anyone know when, if not now, it will be possible to walk from Leamington to Long Itchington without a lengthy detour?

I walked bits of this route last summer, but not the section shown here.

The dashed section east of the B4455 (Fosse Way) means "under construction". As I understand it, this section isn't currently accessible and the situation is as described here.

I think you can probably get from the Ridgeway Lane byway bridge onto the Lias Lane cycleway. Aerial imagery shows an (unofficial?) connecting path from the north side of the bridge.

I rode this route a couple of weeks ago. It’s possible to avoid Stonebridge lane completely and just follow the greenway all the way to the Fosse. Then just cross the Fosse way where the railway used to be (and where a footbridge will be eventually), go up the embankment and you will be on the new tarmac section all the way to Long Itchington.

That's good news, at least it isn't a dead end like the open street map suggests :)

Presumably one could make a bit of a circular trip using this new path/cycleway to Long Itchington and coming back along the Grand Union canal towpath? (Brings back memories of walking with parents and grandparents - the latter lived in Leamington - as far as the railway bridge between Radford Semele and Offchurch and seeing trains go over it in the 1950s.)

Although be warned the towpath between Long Itchington & where the Greenway joins it near Leamington is rural so depending on the time of year could get muddy. Not that suitable for bikes.

At least in theory if walking, you can take one of the more limited buses to Long Itchington from Leamington town centre
