LGV Nord ride quality

Hi I everyone, I am currently on a London bound Eurostar and I have noticed the ride quality is pretty poor. We have also experienced a TSR. Does anyone have similar experiences?

Doing the same route at present. Haven’t noticed abnormal and no obvious TSRs.

There are a couple of spots on the LGV Nord where the suspension bottoms out, but I have not experienced anything particularly untoward... is the TSR was after Lille heading towards Paris then it's due to some engineering work they've been doing on a junction there.

Yes that was one of the tsrs I think the other one was northbound just before the lgv interconnection joins from Paris CDG airport

There are works around the LGV Interconnexion Junction for the new Picardie link (to the Amiens line).

I've used TGV from Paris to Lyon, Le Mans and Lourdes via Bordeaux and it has always been my opinion that the LGV Nord has always had a slightly more noticeable ride than the other routes, ever since it was built. ( I haven't done LGV Est yet ).

The LGV Nord passes through many of the areas that were affected by the trench warfare of the First World War and many of the filled-in trenches were never fully charted or recorded. IIRC, it was the collapse of a previously-unknown trench that caused the derailment of a Eurostar train several years ago.

The Lille-Calais section of the LGV Nord passes through one or two areas of distinctly marshy ground and the place where the trains' suspension usually bottoms-out - sometimes quite alarmingly - is on the Paris-bound line between the Ruminghem (?) crossovers and the canal bridge at Watten. Perhaps one of our ES members could give the exact location?

I think you're talking about near the Quilleval crossovers which used to be very bad but some track work last year (or the previous year I can't remember) got rid of that particular bang

That's the place. Although there was a bit of a bounce there again on my last Brussels-bound journey on 31st March.

LGV Est is silky smooth even on the ICE which doesn't have Jacob's bogies. Then again, it is a good decade or so newer than the LGV Nord.

The inferior Velaro ride quality, compared to the TGV's, not helping...

It was very noticeable on 373s as well that the line was bumpier than the other LGVs.

Incidentally, I actually enjoy that...
