Leyland to Mill Hill routing

Looking at NRE I can get it to offer me the following itinerary for the outward portion of a LEY-MLH CDR (Child £4.25):

LEY 1219 - 1226 PRE
PRE 1238 - 1255 BBN
BBN 1305 - 1308 MLH

I have looked at the easements and can find nothing about a permitted doubleback. My question is, because I can't get NRE to offer a via BBN itinerary on the return portion, can I assume that because it offers a via BBN routing on one portion, is it automatically allowed on the other portion?

EDIT: Just realised the MLH-BBN section of the return requires a -1 minute connection at Blackburn. I'm still curious as to whether it would be allowed though.

Leyland to Mill Hill via Preston and Blackburn is within 3 miles of the shortest route, so is automatically allowed (unless there's a negative easement).

Permitted: Within 3 miles of shortest route.

Ah right, that explains the lack of easement, then the fact that it saves no time doublebacking on the return explains the lack of itineraries offered, sorted!

One more thing, I'm guessing that this means I can start short at BBN on the return? Would look quite weird, turning up at BBN with a LEY-MLH return

You could always ask for a zero fare excess at Blackburn as the fare is the same I don't think you'll have any problems.

Presumably over distance excess on the return portion, from Mill Hill to Blackburn.

A Leyland - Blackburn return would allow you to travel Leyland-Blackburn-Mill Hill-Leyland and would be simpler than trying to obtain an excess you're not guaranteed of getting.
