Really ? we had a Labour Party that abandoned it's principles to take on a Tory Party that didn't have any in the first place. All that has been happening is the Labour Party is returning to it's real purpose - in supporting the ordinary people against the self centred interests of business.

@DynamicSpirit has crafted a most articulate posting in response to this, to which I have nothing to add.

So you sell your soul and turn in to your opponents ? Blair blurred the distinction between Labour and Tory so much that they were virtually the same. Do you really want a one style politic with no real alternative ?

I want a government who will act pragmatically and without being wedded to a particular ideology like the socialist, identity-politics, Jew-fearing pressure group you guys call an Opposition at the moment.

Labour’s politics are incredibly divisive and destructive because they seek to undermine the concept of invididual self determination. What matters to a lot of people in the Labour Party isn’t what I have or haven’t achieved, but rather that I’m white, a man, an atheist, and have a disability under the Equality Act. Labour must stop identity politics...and the anti-Jewish weirdness too... before I vote for them.

Anything known of Mr Carey? I only ask because when I lived at Hither Green I was registered with a local medical practice which had four doctors, three of whom had the surname Carey (all of them related). All four doctors were Roman Catholics, unlike myself, but as I wasn't seeking an abortion it was never a problem!

As ever with by-elections in safe Labour seats, a comfortable enough hold with a LibDem surge. Fans of such things will note that the Official Monster Raving Loony Party candidate came sixth from bottom.

With the Labour majority slashed slashed from 21,213 at the general election to 5,629 yesterday on a 33% turnout. That was a 19% swing from Labour to the Lib Dems, who saw a 20% increase in their vote share from the last election.

Another resounding success for Corbyn and his clown army.
