Hello!

My name is Callum, it's nice to meet you all! I am a 17-year-old transport enthusiast from Childwall, Liverpool, Merseyside.

Outside London, especially in Merseyside, this lesson that, for a brighter transport future, public transport is the way forward, has not been learned. Many are content with the disastrous idea of slipping into a future of ever-rising car use, resulting in Merseyside's local transport network, outside Merseyrail, being disastrous itself.

Instead, we should build a brighter transport future, one that is greener and fairer, that connects people rather than leaving them behind, that gives us clean air to breathe and a planet fit for the next generation. Merseyside needs real vision, no half measures. The trouble with this country nowadays, nothing we build is big enough to cope with the needs of the future, nor grand enough for us to be proud of! Where’s our British pride?

I would like to treat this thread like the Department for Transport would treat a public consultation. What improvements would you like to see in Merseyside?

But for a large proportion of the public "a brighter transport future" means their own car, which takes them door to door, precisely at the times they wish to travel, without having to mix with sometimes rather unpleasant other people, and - often - at lower cost than bus or rail fares.

So how do you suggest addressing that?

Ah, ok, apologies.
No worries. I am going to lock this thread, due to the duplication we have with existing threads regarding Merseyrail.

If you want to talk about buses specifically, it may be worth having a thread specifically on buses in the bus section.

And as for this...

We had a thread specifically for that, which can be found here:
