Not sure what damage they may have caused to the waiting cars adjacent to the police car though, as they appear to get swept to the left as the train passes. That idiot they were chasing must have had an awful lot to hide evident from the insane speeds he was achieving on single carriageway suburban roads even before he charged the crossing barriers.

That guy put the lives of so many other road users and those on the train, should it have collided with his car, at risk for his own selfish reasons. What a t*sser.

(The crossing is at Kings Dyke between Peterborough and Whittlesey in case any one's wondering. (Yes, I have spelt that right - the town is spelt Whittlesey even though the station is Whittlesea)).

Not necessarily.. some just want the thrill of the chase - but the crossing was taking a big risk. I guess the adrenaline kicked in.

Personally I think they should of transferred the persuit to an Air Support unit (If available). As you can see in the video the police on his back causes more 'pressure' to get away, and if there would of been a collision between the unit and the car trying to get away the police would of got the blame for putting 'pressure' on whoever was driving.

However the police observer noticed the train coming and shouted "Don't cross"
The train passed and it was then clear the train had actually hit the car, sending it into a field

I saw a clip on YouTube of an American truck jumping the crossing and smashing into a train, but I can't remember the name. They should electrify the crossing barriers so people who try to cut them are taught a lesson! Now how about that on Traffic Cops!
