The person with the floor posts a rather cryptic post. In this post, there will be clues which, when correctly deciphered, create letters. The letters in turn will create a station name, which needs to be guessed correctly.

My bold. This is not the most complicated set of rules to understand.

I don't have anything to hand, but I bet backontrack has a cupboard full, so ....

Open Floor

Actually, this next one will exhaust my supplies! Need to think up some more!

My bold. This is not the most complicated set of rules to understand.

Indeed. Don't take this as discouragement though.

Anyway...

My first’s in Eurostar, Southeastern and Southern
My second’s in Dulwich but absent in Streatham
My third’s in Caledonian, Sleeper and Scotrail
My fourth, like the rail network, isn't in Crail
My fifth’s in Great Western and South Eastern Trains
My sixth’s inside Twickenham; but not in Staines
My seventh’s in Transpennine Express and Northern
My eighth is in Knottingley; though absent in Thorne and
My last’s not in Virgin; neither coast, for it’s true
That my last’s also not in Doncaster or Crewe.

Get decoding!

Some of the other quizzes have a push for overseas trips at the moment, so here's one for continental travel fans. The rules for Letter by Letter say the answer should be the name of a station (and imply one located in GB), but don't specify that the clue must be in English!

Clues are names of Paris Métro stations, but the solution (as usual) is a National Rail station in Britain.

If you can't guess the French, Google Translate will do it in two clicks, but watch out for City Hall, North Station etc - obviously it's the French words you need!

Yep, this type of riddle is fine, as long as the station concealed inside it is British. :D

Five days without a bite on this French riddle makes me think this was un peu trop loin.
Here's the same riddle in English - the solution is a railway station in Britain and it's no harder than any other in this quiz.....

My first is in Wagram, but not Invalides,
My second in Les Halles and Pyramides.
My third is in Châtelet and Hôtel de Ville,
My fourth is in Liberté, Cité and Bastille.
My fifth is in Gare de l'Est, also Gare du Nord,

My seventh is in Opéra but not Nationale,
My last in Pont Neuf and Porte de la Chapelle.

I thought I'd have a go at this.
There are 8 combinations for the last two letters, and 4 first letters. Using a list of all stations, no combinations seem to exist? I'll give up already.

Or it should be Waterloo, but your 7th clue is wrong.

I did screw up #7 by typing "but not" where it should have said "also".

Anyhow, the answer is Waterloo, so your floor.

Why this choice? 200th anniversary of the battle was last week.

Making one is a mess and more work than I thought. Nonetheless:

My first letter can be found in Newark North Gate, yet not in Edinburgh Waverley
A second one in Penrhyndeudraeth , and Dryffyn Ardudwy.
The third letter isn’t in Bourne End, yet is in Palmers Green.
My fourth can in Billericay, and Great Yarmouth be seen.
In Colchester, yet not in Retford is my fifth.
The sixth is in Marple and Aberystwyth.
For the seventh look in Flowery Field and Filmby,
The eighth from Brighton and Howden is the last for thee.

[note: I am sorry for mentally mispronouncing for the rhyme]

My first is in cob but not in loaf
My second's in fool, and idiot and oaf
My third is in scatter, in Sepp but not Blatter
My fourth is in Patchway, not in Bristol Parkway
My fifth is in gelatinous and congealed
My last is in remedy; not that it's healed
And, if this riddle's answer has you puzzling hour
After hour, then I'll tell you, it's east of Spinnaker Tower

Since twenty four hours has passed... it's time to try something similar to Springs Branch's French conundrum. Clues are all Dutch cities...in Dutch <D

Mijn eerste is in Drachten, maar niet Leeuwarden
Mijn tweede is in Zutphen, ook Enspijk
Mijn derde is in Arnhem en Apeldoorn
Mijn vierde is in Gendt, evenals Sloten

Let's see...
(CB)OS(CH)...

Bosham. If I'm correct, my conundrum is above.

Daslunatic, are you sure yours is correct?
It has to be 10 letters, and start with [CHT][PEN]. There are only 7 stations in the UK which fit now. Neither fit any of the remaining clues.
Also #6 leaves you with 12 letters, and #10: should I answer this in Dutch too?

Yes: it's been triple checked.

I moved myself into your psyche.

Heathrow T4. Or as it is actually called, Heathrow Terminal 4.

I presume it has US-bound flights?

In that case, let's keep going 'international'.

In Denmark or Maldives can my first letter be found,
Whereas the second in Mauritius or Uganda stands his ground.
Kazakhstan, but not Azerbaijan provides my third,
The fourth can in the Philippines or Singapore be heard.
For the fifth, in Micronesia and the Maldives we go ashore.
In Montenegro, but not Indonesia, it is the sixth we’re looking for.
The seventh isn’t in Palestine, yet is in Nigeria.
And for the eight, we go to Serbia, not Namibia.
A ninth is in Suriname and Sweden alike,
The last one isn’t in Nepal, nor Grenade, but on a Netherlands’ dike.
