Thoughts? Yes, there goes one of the greatest wordsmiths of our time. A towering talent who will be remembered long after the current crop of this factor and that factor wannabees and never will be's will be back serving in MacDonalds.

Bought the first Leonard Cohen LP within a couple of days of its release without ever having heard any of it, just on the basis of the album notes, from which I could see it was going to be a good 'un, but just how good I could never have guessed. 'That's No Way To Say Goodbye' is a song I must have sung to myself thousands of times over the years. Never bought another Cohen record, but that was more due to an early marriage and not having the money to indulge myself than any other reason.

I was never his biggest fan, but I found that there was a lot of quality in his words and his music. The world will undoubtedly be a poorer place without him.

Saw him back in Birmingham about 8 years ago. The guy even in his seventies then, was a great performer. He's one of the few performers I know of who had his fans from the 70's and a new bunch of younger fans . The music world is a poorer place for his death.

Bob Dylan, Nobel laureate, has come out and said Leonard Cohen was the best poet ever in the world of music, to which I say 'hear!hear!'

The Stranger Song is an absolute favourite of mine.

I made a point of listening to his latest album "You Want it Darker" this weekend and it's a brilliant piece of work. Very sad to see him go but his lyrics and music will live on for so much longer.
