Leicester-Bicester workings routing

Recently the light engine workings from Leicester to Bicester (to run from Bicester to Wimbledon SWT units) have used Milton Keynes to Bicester.

Is there a good reason that they're routed via Nuneaton and the crowded WCML - instead of via Bedford?

from observation these type of workings can go via either route. Unsure of any rhyme or reason.

Potentially the flyover weight restriction between Fenny and Bletchley High Level. Only able to take RA2 stock currently.
