Leicester area queries.

Travelling on a Cross-Country service from Peterborough to Birmingham New Street today, I have two queries:

(1) What is the identity of the class 27 loco painted in undercoat sitting alongside Leicester depot?

and

(2) Does anyone know anything about the rather forlorn - looking fireless steam loco sitting in the middle of a field on the North side of the line a short distance to the West of South Wigston station?

Is that possibly the 1929 era Bagnall fireless loco at Glen Parva? Think it was moved there, into a farmer's field, maybe some 15 years ago, as part of a local station re-opening campaign.

I believe the class 27 on the GCR is numbered D5401 and it has recently been refurbished and repainted.

That's what I thought but, according to Wikipedia, D5401 and 27 059 are one and the same. (Sorry....I can't do a quote from my phone).

27 at LR is 27059 D5410. Was owned by a Council and previously based at the SVR. Had bodywork repairs at Cranmore before arriving at LR.

Ah thanks....that explains it! Someone on Wiki has obviously confused D5410 with D5401.
