Leeds - York - (No Open Returns) advice

Hi guys, wondering if anyone can give me some advice how to cut down travel costs between York and Leeds.

The problem is that for some stupid reason (in my eyes at least) I cannot get an open return for Leeds to York, thus when I nip over to see the grilfriend in the week and want to stay overnight it costs me Two Single fares (2 x £11.xx) obviously this gets expensive quickly!

I think I overheard someone say you can get an Open Return : between York and Bradford which a quick check appears to costs £15.10 .

I was wondering if there is an even better open return i can get thats cheaper that allows me to travel Leeds to York (at anytime of the day).

Extra info:
I normally travel after 7PM Leeds -> York and between 6AM and 8am York -> Leeds

I looked at open return on national express coaches but the journey is almost double duration (45 mins vs 20/25mins) and its about £11 open return....

Do you have a railcard at all?

From what you say, a saver from New Pudsey (or Bradford) to York would do. On the outward leg, you must arrive in York at or after 09:30 but that isn't a problem because you don't want to make the Leeds-York journey until after 19:00.

The return portion is unrestricted.

Think thats the best you are gunna do by train, only other thing is that Yorkshire Coastliner buses do a ticket that you can buy on their website called journey 12 or something like that, which is valid for 12 single journeys for 12 months. The Leeds-York ticket is priced £30.50 so £2.50 per journey but it does take an hour. These tickets are only available online.
