Only ever stayed in the rooms facing away, but this time got lucky! Can even hear the announcements. The window and heavy curtains block the noise at night.

Due to engineering trips from there to York and Huddersfield have been, well, the long way round, will be glad when it's over.

One plus, the Leeds to York via Harrogate are now on splendid trains, I remember the squeak and squeal going round that curve!

View of the station from my room..

That’s not bad at all. The Hyatt just over the road from the Travelodge gets you even better views and there’s a rooftop bar with good views both into the station and of the approaches in both directions. You can ask for a room with a railway view.

Yes, I'm sat on a train looking at Hyatt right now!

Some rooms at the Doubletree also have a view of the station. You can almost touch the passengers on Platform 17.

My train this morning left from the very end of P9 so I could stare straight back at the room I'd just left!
