How many trains can leave Leeds towards the south at the same time?

I've just seen four leave simultaneously which I don’t think I’ve ever seen before.

There was an 185 TPE, an LNER to the Cross, a 150 to Sheffield and a 333.

Now the TPE and LNER went straight out but the 150 to Sheffield and the 333 to Bradford ended up at the lights on the curve.

Sorry for the inquisitive post. I've never seen four leave at the same time.

Considering there’s six bidi lines out surely you could end up with six going out at the same time.
Would never happen of course because arrivals exist too

There are six lines and six destinations at the western end but I think it would be 5 trains with a continuous set route because you couldn’t get three trains towards Bradford Interchange, Huddersfield and Wakefield Westgate, whilst accommodating a train heading towards Castleford. Happy to be proven wrong.

The other limitation could also be power if electric trains are being used.

Even with four leaving at the same time, only two made it straight out.

Typically, the two Northern services were the ones held at red lights just outside the throat.

It's feasible for 5 to leave towards the west (departures are east or west at a Leeds) and not be held at the six-track gantry. Lines departing resolve into six tracks, F to A (as read left to right when looking west).

You could have one service on 'F' line routed towards the Up Midland towards Methley; one on 'E' line routed onto the Down Midland onto Holbeck Depot; one on 'D' line onto the Down Huddersfield, then onto the Up Doncaster via the Copley Chord; one on 'C' line onto the Down Shipley line towards Shipley, and one on 'B' or 'A' lines towards the Down Harrogate.

In practice the most you'd see with frequency is three departures (or arrivals).
