Leeds to London return

Wanting to book a ticket from Leeds to London with a senior railcard.
Travelling down on 13th July after 10am returning on the 14th after 3pm.
has anyone and ideas on splits as i'm finding it being over £50 each way on East Coast?

Are you working on advances or do you need flexible tickets? Would you be OK using Grand Central from the nearby west riding stations?

It's less than that in First Class! Currently East Coast offers:

Saturday 13 July
1005 Leeds - Kings X 1229 Railcard Advance £25.25 (First Advance £36.85)
Sunday 14 July
1635 Kings X - Leeds 1856 Railcard Advance £25.25 (First Advance £36.85)
Total £50.50 (First Class £73.70)

I would also consider this cheaper, slower option:

It's also less than that in standard. A Super Off Peak return, with railcard discount, is £64.70.

Are you willing to argue your case with a 'loophole' ticket, a copy of the NRCoC, the Routeing Guide, and appropriate maps?

I can see at least two cheaper flexible options than the Leeds- London SSR for travel via Doncaster and Grantham, both of which involve starting and finishing "short" at Leeds.

The first alternative flexible ticket is £54.50 and involves "starting short" along a perfectly reasonable route (one shown as valid by online journey planners); the other is £37.10 and, although technically valid according to the Routeing Guide, is not shown as valid by online journey planners, is not exactly reasonable, and is likely to result in a lot of hassle.

Both prices include railcard discount, and I can pm you the tickets if you are interested.
