It's been announced that the tourist info centre at Leeds station is to close and it's going to move into a smaller unit under the art gallery. Any idea what the unit in the station will become?expanded ticket desks?

No - but as a guess, they might try to rent it to one of the "big chain" food outlets.

I hear burger king have been given notice that network rail won't be renewing their lease but surely it's too big a unit for them

Sainsburys might have it as the current store is very small

Just a guess, but might that mean the area they currently occupy along with a couple of other businesses might be removed? I hope so, as that area would be better cleared to allow more free space, making the concourse a little less crowded.

What a crying shame. Surely it makes sense to have Tourist Info at the gateway to the city.

I remember when Burger King used to have the unit that is now M&S Food with a sit down area, never seemed particularly busy.

Its a shame the tourist information centre is to move, always thought it was a good location for it. Would be good if they could keep a presence in the station if a smaller unit comes available somewhere.

The Tourist Information centre is run by Leeds City Council, so I imagine the cost of a space underneath a building they already own compares quite well with the costs of the current site at the station.
