Leeds station platform 15a/15b allocations

Does anyone know why some trains on Platform 15 at Leeds are booked to call at Platform 15A and some at 15B. Looking on Realtimetrains for any date in the future shows the random split between 15A & 15B.

If they actually do stop at 15A which I’m not sure they always do, this results in them stopping short of where all the passengers are waiting. There will never be another train occupying the other part.

I’m talking about the current class 185 operation rather than what may happen when the longer trains take over more services which is when I guess they will start being advertised as ‘15’

Off the top of my head, from December I think east-bound TPE changes to full occupancy of Platform 15, or Platform 11D (brought in from 11A not the thru road). Must be something to do with having the Hull and the NCL so close together and there's a couple of instances in the evening peak when Northern bring something onto 15 from the west right after a TPE and take it back out again.

It is mainly the xx:48 Hull (booked 15b) and the xx:52 Newcastle (booked 15a). With them being so close together, it’s not unknown for the Newcastle to be in 15a while the Hull is still on 15b.

If the Newcastle is running late though and is booked 15a, it will be stopped at the mid platform signal.

Some late night eastbound trains are booked into 15a as they reverse back out to run via Methley towards York.

It shouldn't do as long as the passengers are paying attention as when 15A is used it's clearly shown on the screens and indicated by signage.

13 is a bay, think you mean 11 or 12 but those have the middle road so trains at the A end can be overtaken from the D end.
Looking at RTT today (I know the platforms aren't always right), the xx52 Newcastles have used 16, 15 with the Hull on 12, 15 behind the Hull x2, 12 and 8...
The booked platforms for this afternoon are either 15B HUL 15A NCL or 12D HUL 15B NCL, presumably according to what is booked for the NCL.

As others have said, it's normally due to there being two trains booked close together, so the second one can be signalled into the station while the first one is still there.

Despite being a bay, 13 has in the past had multiple services in at the same time. I don't believe it currently is booked for double occupancy (the Southport services which often use it are frequently formed of double units these days) but in the past it has had trains waiting at both the a and b ends.

The 2118 Manchester Victoria and 2121 Manchester Victoria services are both booked from 13, as they split off the Southport arrival
