This evening I entered Leeds station through what I like to call the 'Burger King entrance' (sadly not involving any actual consumption of Burger King!)

I noticed the two clocks underneath the main departure boards were out of sync with each other by up to 10 seconds, and then the clock just after passing through the ticket barriers was also out of sync with the other two!

Surely in the year 2015 they can get clocks that actually tell the same time as each other?

Some screens at Sheffield have the added extra of black tape over the time so I'm wondering if it's a known fault

The reason behind this is so Northern aren't accused of early or late departure we just use the clock that's nearest the time the train leaves

I caught the 1708 Northern service to Bradford Interchange on Saturday and noticed the clocks weren't quite right.

Didnt stop me having a quick pint though

Most clocks(at least at NR managed stations IIRC) are controlled by an external signal so if that gets interrupted/corrupted then the time will be wrong.

I remember a few years ago, the clocks on the platforms at Liverpool Street were set about 30 seconds early. I was told by a DSM that the idea was to hustle last minute people onto trains, as they would jump on sooner thinking it was about to depart. The rest of the clocks showed the correct time. Not sure if its still like that now though.
