I'm doing some research on the Leeds-Bradford line via Bramley. From looking at some recent cab ride videos, the signals going towards Bradford are all 3-aspect, whereas going towards Leeds the majority (but not all) are 4-aspect. Why is this? It's not a situation I've come across before (from my enthusiast's interest). I'd have thought that the same signalling would be needed in either direction.
Thanks

This scenario has been in place from the July 1969 resignalling between Wortley and Laisterdyke which was largely mirrored in the May 2018 scheme. The three aspect signals control the steep (1/100 to 1/146) Bradford-bpund climb where attained speeds were generally lower than line speed in the late 1960s. This would possibly be the reason for having 4 aspects on the fast downhill stretch.

That's, that's very useful
