Leeds booking office - time for a remodelling ?

I've bought a few Leeds plusbus tickets from by there when I haven't got them in advance, and I've had an excess done in there.

Word on the grapevine is a significant revamp of City station's north concourse, to include

-Reclad of City House (the big office block)
-Demolition of smaller office block
-New glass roof & frontage for current concourse
-expanded Travel centre & booking area
-removal of the dummy ceiling over the current booking office & refurbishing the southernmost roof span of the NC
-New mezzanine level on the South Concourse to increase retail offer
-Widening access to platforms 1-8 by demolishing the retail units
-Connecting footbridge from new mezzanine to Western overbridge for access to platforms 9-17

There's also enthusiasm on LCC for a revamp with even greater scope, to include

-a new Southeastern entrance & bus station at Sovereign Square, including an expanded eastern overbridge plugging into the new mezzanine
-expanded southern entrance through the Dark Arches & reopening of the old subways (which are still there, just covered over)
-the arcading of New Station Street
-improved pedestrian access to swinegate & Mill Hill through a new piazza staircase.

The above sounds... adventurous but fantastic! Getting in and around Leeds is a faff - and that silly ticket office situation as well as the rather rundown old concourse causes that in part. The days of 4 ticket offices at Leeds should be numbered in my view! And the queuing system is tragic :/

I like the concourse.

IMO, NR ought to concentrate on making the booking facilities fit for purpose, then spend the rest of any money on useful things like new stations and lines, rather than fannying around with the concourse.

If they are planning to improve Leeds station perhaps something could be done to get more light into the trainshed. It always look dark and dull when I am using it.

It's bizarre that they're spending £17m (plus the ongoing staffing costs) of a new Southern entrance that will have a relatively small usage ( and that in M/F peak hours) when a station adjacent to the bus station could probably be built for less and bring more passenger benefit throughout the week. Then we have the HS2 people wanting to build a separate station in Holbeck. Madness

It's a shame they can't reuse the old station. It would be amazing to see trains in thete again. Somehow

As for the huge office block they ought to flatten it and build a full glass atrium and perhaps recreate the style of the original station in terms of reclaimed materials and style.
I'm no fan of London But The St Pancras station is awe inspiring.
Kings cross is as well

We need to see that at Leeds. And restore some lost leeds suburban routes.
And those out to Wetherby N Harrogate Ripon.
But IMHO that entire 60 ' s mess should be torn from what's left of the old station
And replaced in the style seen at St Pancras.
Let's see some real design.
Make it something inspirational . After all leeds is becoming a massive business centre.
Also They need to push forward from the North as soon as possible the H's and head south with it!.
