I have joined this forum to ask for assistance in answering a question that South West Trains cannot reply to. I will post the enquiry which I sent to their Customer Services, and hopefully someone can provide me with the appropriate response.
As I said above, any response would be appreciated. The response I received from SWT was description and the T&Cs of an Advanced fare !
Many thanks in advance.
Dear Sir/Madam,
I would be obliged if you could advise regarding a ticketing problem which has arisen, and the best way to avoid any problems when leaving the train.
Some weeks ago I booked First Advance tickets for myself and wife (with Disabled Adult Railcard) for travel from London Waterloo to Brockenhurst as we were to be staying overnight in the Brockenhurst area with relatives prior to leaving on a cruise from Southampton the following day.
A few days ago, I was told my relatives would no longer be available to host us, so we have had to change our accomodation plans to stay in Southampton that night (Friday 28th June).
I am aware that having paid for the First Advance tickets, we are not permitted by your T&Cs to leave the train before Brockenhurst, albeit Southampton being only 13 minutes away. I have therefore today purchased online, 2 standard anytime single tickets from Brockenhurst to Southampton.
In reality, will we have to stay on the train to Brockenhurst, then immediately travel back to Southampton, or can we simply leave the train from London Waterloo at Southampton and show staff there that we have tickets from Brockenhurst, but obviously have not had the oportunity to use them?
Your advice on how best to proceed, would be greatly appreciated.
