Least useable station?

I was thinking of / sort of planning a walk NW down the Irwell valley to see the Meccano Bridge at Nob End (I assure you that they both really do exist) and picked the closest station to start from, Clifton.

It turns out that it has just 1 train Southbound (~7am) and 1 northbound (1821) each day. Not much use for my needs, but have we got a lot of these? Tees-side airport has no trains at all (today anyway) and I know intermediate stations on the Stockport to Stalybridge line have one train, one way only, one day a week.

Are there any others that are as useless? If the cost of maintaining the station is there (& I presume it is totally unmanned) why not have it as a request stop on a suitable service?
It's not Norton Bridge...

Heysham Port must be amongst them. You can spend 16 minutes there before you have to catch the train back.

Whilst well served in comparison to the above, Angel Road in North London must be a contender for the south of the country. A pretty poor service that dumps you in the middle of a scrap yard. You then have to walk about a quarter of a mile along a footpath / jungle assault course to the station entrance, which is a hole in the wall of a busy road just off the N Circular. And then, when you think you have reached civilisation, you realise you are in the *rse end of Tottenham.

Lympstone Commando, although exclusively used by visitors to the Royal Marine Commando training base, however it's on Network Rail property so normal passengers can now use the station, weirdly Exe Estuary Trail runs between the platform & entrance to the camp, but the entrance and exit gate remains locked.

A fair number of the stations on the Severn Beach line would qualify as fairly uselessly situated, Clifton being an exception. The same is true in the westerly direction (Bedminster and Parsons St) . The reason is that they are not ringed by useful busy facilities but tend to be in remote unfriendly situations (like Angel Road described earlier). You would not want your teenage daughter going anywhere near them.

Edit: Just thought of Hilsea, which frightened me when I visited it one rainy and windy winter Saturday afternoon.

Beaulieu Road is in the middle of nowhere, and has an irregular service.

Yes, but if you do the journey in reverse you can reach the state of Nirvana.:)

Surely, it's Newhaven Marine? The train calls there but no passengers can embark or disembark there.

Bedminster 80k and Parsons St 102k passengers in 2014, hardly useless (unless you were excluding them). :) Bedminster is quite an eclectic an interesting area and a very nice pub within three minutes walk sh....sh!

Half a mile / 1 1/2 mins out of Carnoustie and a mile from Barry Links (same poor service), so maybe no real justification for stopping trains?

I was asking about stations that were unusable because of the train service rather than being unattractively situated, but you are right, there are a few places where you can plan a visit or a walk using a timetable and a map, then on arrival wish that you had had a bit more info ron the surroundings... I used the Severn beach line extensively in the early 70s and wasn't aware of anyware I shouldn't get off the train.

The entrance gate was open when I used Lympstone Commando a year or so ago.

In fact what you say doesn't make sense, or did the Marines getting off there just climb over?
