I recently watched the excellent Peter Jackson film 'They Shall Not Grow Old', here in the UK, and towards the end of the restored film, where the colour film goes back into black and white, there were several scenes showing the returning British Troops at the very end of 1918 possibly early 1919.
Included in this was a short sequence of a train arriving at a station to disembark mainly military personnel which, thanks to the film restoration, I was initially able to observe the LB&SCR unique OHLE. Then, I could also identify that, the train itself was formed of EMU units (Crystal Palace Stock?) and, on panning right, even see the Collector Bow (type of Pantograph). On reviewing the footage, interestingly as soon as the train stops, the opposite Collector Bow is raised, causing some oscillation in the overhead wire. Thus, it would appear the train had completed its journey to a South London Station (I couldn't identify same), where the direction of travel would be reversed.
Since this is the only film footage I have ever seen of the often overlooked LB&SCR AC Overhead Electrification - does anyone know of any other?
