Hi All, I've got 4 days in Latvia in January, I'm staying in Riga, straight over the river from the Railway Station. I've not yet swotted up on the public transport etc, but I wondered if anyone had any tips, including going on a rail excursion of no more than 90 minutes travel time (my Mrs not keen on going on a train for longer). As usual all pearls of wisdom greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Most regular train services from Riga are for commuters so you're unlikely to get far. Riga transport is a mix of tram & bus. You'd have been better off staying in the old town, but your side of the river is where the railway museum is
