It seems odd that train driver candidates can presumably meet medical standards with yellow-blue colour blindness, but that's another story!
It is not odd, being able to discern the difference between red and green is absolutely critical for a driver, simply one means stop the other means proceed, where as a blue yellow deficit is not safety critical, ie does it appear to the driver as one or two yellows on the signal, or one or two blues on the signal, regardless of how the individual views it both of which are a proceed aspect, there is no safety situation where its absolutely critical for driver to differentiate between yellow and blue, for yellow/blue its simply a case of is the light on or off? Which is not the case in red or green
