IE usage has fallen 6% (since Wednesday I have actually used the far superior Google Chrome), and the busiest and quietest hours are both an hour sooner now too.

IE still seems popular, which does surprise me. I thought it had earned quite a poor reputation lately. I'm using Chrome, which is of course the best broswer.

Though Windows is still streets ahead (not surprising).

Interesting to see that Firefox usage has remained fairly constant, with most IE users going for Chrome. And I can't blame them. On my last PC, I switched to Chrome and never looked back. I've seen surveys suggesting that the main reason that so many people use IE is because it's the default and they don't know how to/are unwilling to change it. Makes sense; a surprisingly large number of people don't even realise that you can access the internet on something other than IE!

I actually switched to a Mac just over a month ago now, and I'm one of your Safari users. I don't see the point of downloading Chrome, as I don't really have a problem with Safari.

Both my wife and I had used Internet Explorer 8, then upgraded to Internet Explorer 9 and had quite severe problems.

I made a new thread on the General Discussion forum about Internet Explorer 9 problems and as a result of some excellant postings by forum members, both my wife and I changed to Google Chrome, with excellant results.

That was quite good.

Since that poll, I have started to use Chrome, IE was becoming a pain in the a*se.

I like Chrome and always use it on my laptop, but at the moment it's awaiting repairs (when I have the money) so using my sister's laptop when I can to get online and have to use IE8. Bloody hate it, Chrome's just so much better!

What's stopping you downloading Chrome onto your sister's laptop? (Or even IE9, as that's considerably better than IE8 and IMO up there with the newest Chromes and Firefoxes.)

I've never seen the point of Firefox myself, it's just as bloaty, slow and prone to errors as Internet Explorer. Chrome's quite good and I use that for websites that have a 'disagreement' with IE.

I suspect IE use is due to usage on work computers. I'm afraid I don't know what a "broswer" [sic] is though

People use Windows for much the same reasons people use IE - they're too lazy to change.

Isn't FF5 out now? FWIW FF7 is faster than chromium in my very unscientific test.

Not read the whole of my ancient post you linked to, but good grief, I didn't remember making such an awful post. Cheers for the reminder...

Must say that I really don't like FireFox though still, I've had so many problems with it I've lost count of them.

EDIT: Just read my post and hock:. I can't believe how flipping nasty I was. My post at the end of the second page on that thread has also been disproved, as I've used FireFox a fair bit since then. I'd also quite like bashing 91s these days too!

I've tried most of them (IE, Chrome, Safari, Firefox) and after using it on my phone and now the PC version, I'm quite happy with Opera - the Turbo function is good!

You're having a laugh. IE9 is awful compared to IE8 as it soo slow. In fact as a result of how bad it is I am now using Firefox. I am also thinking of trying Chrome to see what this is like since it seems to get good reviews on here!

I'm a Chrome user. I briefly switched to Safari when I changed to Mac, but I just use it as a back up now. Changed over from Firefox a few years ago - IE is just a distant memory!

When I originally got home internet I was an AOL user, any of those still around? I started off with AOL 4.0 sometime around 1997 I think, and got to AOL 9.0. I still use them for home broadband, but have long abandoned their browser.
