Perhaps this site isn't the best place to ask, but someone may have an answer.

Has anyone used the night coach service from Glasgow to Prestwick Airport ?

Where does it pick-up in relation to Queen St station ?

Is there anywhere to get a few hours kip in the airport before a very early flight ?

Thanks !

It's hardly a night coach, as it is 22:56 Glasgow to Prestwick
There are later trains, the last one being 00:15 Glasgow to Prestwick

The bus is service number X77 leaves Buchanan Bus Station at 23:00, the nearest pickup point being Wellington Street (personally just go to Buchanan Bus Station)

The first bus in the morning is the 04:23 (arrives 05:17), is this the service you are referring to?

Apparently the airport is open 24 hours, so I am quite sure you can sit in the reception area

Yes, that's the one ! The thing I dislike is hanging around at the bus-station for 4 hours early Sunday morning, but when flying with Ryan Air, you have to make sacrifices !

Other option is a taxi and getting to the airport earlier, but this would cost £50+.

Thanks for your reply !

I think this (http://www.glasgowprestwick.com/to-...s-and-coach-services/express-bus-service.html) is the service he's referring to, although I've never got it personally. (Sorry if it justifies all wrong when it's posted!) I've just got the last train and gone for a long walk towards Ayr if I've had an early morning flight.

Arrives Departs
Glasgow Prestwick Airport (Terminal Coach Park) - 23:59
Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station 01:00 01:05
Edinburgh Waverley Bridge 01:50 03:15
Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station 04:15 04:30
Glasgow Prestwick Airport 05:15 -

While we're on the subject of Prestwick, does anyone know what qualifies as a new route for the 6 month free train travel offer-On prestwick's website, only Malta and Madeira seem to qualify. I'm going to Ibiza which shows on Ryanair's website as a new route, but as far as I know it ran last year so is a summer-only service rather than completely new.
Anyone able to confirm or deny if it's eligible?

Although the airport is open 24 hours, the station link to the airport is not. So bear in mind that you may have to use an alternative route late at night to get to the airport (it's not mentioned on the websites, but there are signs at the stations about this).

I'd assume that, given the Summer-only route ran last Summer, it's not a "new route". Rather, the route has been in place since, but just doesn't operate over the winter period.

Bear in mind, of course, that you still get half-price rail travel from anywhere in Scotland to the airport if you have a valid flight ticket for that day.

Buchanan Street Bus Station toilets, shop etc are closed to the public from midnight to 6am everynight, ticket or no ticket.
You can of course wait at the seat beside your bus stance, which of course is not to be recommended.
You'd be warmer and safer taking the last train to Prestwick Airport and spending the night there.

I didn't fancy a seat outside the bus-station ! I'll change my plans to arrive in Glasgow with plenty of time to get to Prestwick.

You appear to know the area: are there any decent Chinese take-aways near to Queen St or Central stations ? After a long-day on the trains, they go down a treat !

Just before you get to Glasgow Central on Renfield Street, there is a Chinese
