Last service has used the Moorgate Branch

Despite the branch closing in March trains have been reversing at Moorgate during peak hours since then although today when i passed the line the Overhead Wires had been taken down and track was being lifted near Farringdon.

For the record the branch was offically closed to ECS movement on the 28/11/09. March was only the closure of Passenger services. (This different was due to the need to install OHLE into City before the branch was closed to allow AC traction to reverse in the Core before finally killing the Moorgate branch). On the 06/12/09 the OHLE was removed and the points clipped. The junction is to be removed during the xmas shut down of the 25-30th December.

So what was the last working?

The 20th March 2009 when there was a special working using both TLP branded units that was put on just for the railway community rather than the passengers. That was the last passenger working. As for the final working, no-one knows as it been used as a sidings for months. The final rail unit down there was a 73 used to remove the OHLE.
