Has anybody seen the opening sequence of M. Hulot's Holiday ?
I think you will find I linked to it myself when we recently discussed this for elsewhere! An absolute classic, especially the choreography of the two trains, let alone all the extras as passengers. Here it is:

Caught up in disorganisation at Woking one morning a while ago, no Down services coming, indicators blank, no staff around. Large crowd. Then the PA suddenly boomed into life.

"May I have your attention please", delivered in measured basso-profundo tones. All conversation instantly drops off.

*Please keep your luggage with you at all times". General sighing all round.
That joke doesn't become funnier the more you tell it.

I don't think I've ever been caught up in disruption where something like this has happened, at any station, let alone Woking.

If the announcer refered to is Rodger then yes, it is quite a deep voice. I have been waiting during disruption at either Woking or Basingstoke, I can't remember, and I heard and felt the exact same as Taunton though maybe not quite with such emotive storytelling!

Here's an example of his voice. This video includes both GWR and SWR stations, it's sped up slightly at SWR ones.
