I expect you've all heard about the planned 'last day of drinking' gathering on the Circle line tonight, with hundreds of people expected to meet up at Liverpool Street and have a party round-and-round the line.

Liverpool Street tube has been closed due to 'overcrowding', and the Circle has minor delays.

Good luck, fellas ;)

Minor delays - its been suspended! At Kings Cross the staff set off the fire alarms and evacuated the station before 2300!

I've just got back and I'm downloading the pictures shortly.

As is usual on Saturdays, myself and workmate Gary shut the office down and headed home at around 21:50. I decided to check out the tubes, so walked down to Farringdon and arrived just as a Hammersmith & City line train arrived enroute to Hammersmith. There were a number of groups sharing jokes over drinks but as far as I saw nothing too wild... not until Kings Cross St. Pancras anyway, where a single cleaning lady had the thankless task of cleaning up a platform that was absolutely wedged full of drunk and rowdy people. Quite the opposite to those on board the train, who were sipping their drinks over largely calm discussion and banter.

Then at the next stop, Euston Square, the train operator announced that we were being held due to an incident further ahead. After a few minutes we were off, but passengers for Baker Street were advised to change at Great Portland Street for Metropolitan line services due to an incident on the Circle/H&C platforms. Off I hopped at Great Portland Street onto what appeared to be the Goth's station and waited three minutes for the next Uxbridge train. The driver glided his train into Goth Central smiling like a Cheshire Cat, and took me one stop onwards to Baker Street (Met platforms).

Along with six bunny rabbits all clutching Smirnoffs, I descended the escalator to the sound of a maddened station supervisor who boomed down the PA "All cleaning staff drop whatever you are doing and get down to platforms five and six so we can reopen them - they're in a right state!". A Bakerloo line train was sitting stationary with it's doors open so I hopped aboard the thrash-machine, only for the driver to announce that he was not stopping at Waterloo. Probably looking like a total prat to everyone else, I jumped up and alighted just seconds after boarding and did a quick cross-platform shuffle over to the s/b Jubbly. A train was half-way into the platform so it was a simple trip down to Waterloo without hardly a can or bottle in sight!

Seemed the Facebookers and Co. were sticking strictly to the Circle line as planned, which upon arrival at Waterloo was being reported as suspended in one direction. Not sure which though as by this point I had stuck my headphones in. I got up onto the concourse at about 22:26, with plenty of time to spare prior to the 22:39 Class 444 home which had the rear loo out of order, for which the female guard apologised for over the PA. She never came around to check tickets though... Oh, and don't forget the cat that I nearly sent myself over my handlebars for, by braking so hard to save after it oh so casually strolled out in front of me! The last thing I really fancied doing at 23:30 was scraping cat's guts off the front of my Scoot!

Looks like a few line maps and posters are going to need replacing! As for the current tube status on the TfL website - blimey  Apart from the Kings Cross island platform being wedged, it wasn't really too bad when I passed at 10pm - certainly nothing to the level of those photographs!

I don't get what they were getting so excited about. I thought drinking on LUL wasn't allowed anyway.

Once again, we see just why getting pished/wasted/out-of-your-head/whatever on alcohol is one of the worst things you can do.

Banning public drinking is the next step if you ask me.

How to provide good evidence that he made the right decision in banning it...

Then we need to stop them drinking so much in the first place.

Same applies to advertising dry trains and enforcing it. Last weekend, many dry trains were anything but!

It sounds sooo easy, doesn't it...

Aye, but it is time to take a harder line on the matter. Instead of providing 24-hour licenses, a way to curb excessive drinking should have been found. Don't ask me how I'd do it, but it's something I strongly believe is possible and will have to happen in the next few years.

So why only recently did they decide to ban drinking on trains? and the rest of TFL? Here in Melbourne drinking on trains, trams, buses and at train stations and other transport hubs has been banned for so long that I don't even think there was even a time when it was aloud.

Even though it is banned, there are plenty that do. lol

On the back of all these "festivities", some of the more lubricated decided to round-off their evening by trashing the customer info point on the concourse when they got back to Liv St. Some of them got up onto the roof causing it to collapse, and then proceeded to wreck the interior and all the computer equipment inside.

So, a good night was had by all. Utter numpties. <(
