Just wondering what, if anything, (in the GB railway world) is about to stop or close?
I was thinking along the lines of stations, track or passenger services. For example, the Aberdeen to Penzance service would have been something to know about. Just wondered what else is soon for the chop and will be missed.

Perhaps not very exciting, but at the December timetable change the current through Leicester-Nottingham-Lincoln-Grimsby-Cleethorpes service will end with the Leicester-Nottingham stoppers split off and reduced to a shuttle service. There will presumably still be the few intercity services between Lincoln and Leicester and on to London, but there will no longer be the opportunity to get any direct services from Leicester to Grimsby or Cleethorpes, which unless I'm mistaken will leave Leicester with no direct seaside services of any sort.

Great Northern's 387's are being sent to southern and actively withdrawn for 379's. Ride them on the GN routes while you still can.

Great Northern's 387's are being sent to southern and actively withdrawn for 379's. Ride them on the GN routes while you still can.

There are insufficient class 379s to replace all of the class 387s on the GN. Class 387s will still have a presence on the GN after December 2025. But their range of operation may be restricted.

A related possible "last chance" is the only booked class 700 to Kings Lynn, which could get removed in December.

If early 1980s era colour light signalling is your thing, lots of that will be disappearing in the Cambridge area next Christmas.

The current Deighton station will close after the September TRU blockade of Huddersfield for the foreseeable future until the new station is built on its new alignment. The last train services from the station are on 29th August.

The last day for TPE running the Leeds to Huddersfield stopping services (1tp2h) is also 29th August, after the blockade the service fully transfers to Northern.

And on that topic, if the OP wants to visit the current Ravensthorpe station it is scheduled to close on or after 28th September 2025. It should reopen around three years later on an entire new site.

Cottingley station will also close if the nearby partly built White Rose station ever gets completed!

Ravensthorpe station is closing and being moved up the line 200m, Cottingley station is being replaced by White Rose.

TfW's 150s are approaching their end (rumours that their 158s will go to Northern), as are SWRs 455s, and the Tyne and Wear metrocars.

Scunthorpe steelworks railway (as toured by the Appleby Frodingham Railway) is surely under constant jeopardy, although that doesn't necessarily mean it's "last chance to see".

I could imagine some kind of sufficiently severe operational incident (pier falls into sea?) on Girvan-Stranraer leading to a line closure. Again doesn't mean it's "last chance to see" but if you want to see that line then you should get on with it cause it won't be predictable.

Not quite the UK, but Douglas Horse Tram and to a lesser extent the Manx Electric Railway north of Laxey are also in a precarious way aiui. Some of the more minor preserved railways too and I'm sure someone said Crich?
