The line is currently blocked between Stoats Nest Jn and Redhill. Staff reporting a land slip. Access to the south end of Redhill is still possible.

Cue the emergency timetable of Victoria to Reigate trains all cancelled and all Thameslink trains via the Quarry Line with connections at Gatwick into GWR services.

Having said that, an Arun Valley service has just terminated from the South at Redhill platform 0.

One of the Reigate units appears to be in platform 12 at Victoria, another in the sidings at Gatwick. Not sure of the other two.

I guess that now the GWR service to Gatwick runs half hourly that gives enough service at Redhill and Reigate when this sort of thing happens.

According to Southern there has been landslip on the Redhill lines at Merstham.

A landslip between Purley and Gatwick Airport via Redhill means that all lines are disrupted. Trains running between these stations may be cancelled, or diverted between Purley and Salfords. As a result, trains will not call at Coulsdon South or Merstham, Earlswood.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Customer Advice

If you are travelling on routes between Purley and Gatwick Airport via Redhill, you will need to use an alternative route and it will take you up to 30 minutes longer than usual to reach your destination.

Gatwick Express services:

Fewer trains than usual will run, roughly 1 train per hour in either direction.

Thameslink services between:

  • Peterborough and Horsham
  • Bedford and Three Bridges

These trains will run via alternative lines and will not call at Coulsdon South or Merstham, Earlswood.

Southern services between:

  • London Victoria and Reigate
  • Redhill and Gatwick Airport

These services will not run until further notice.

  • London Victoria and Littlehampton
  • London Victoria and Eastbourne

Fewer of these trains will run, roughly 1 per hour in each direction.

  • Redhill and Tonbridge
Services aren't stopping at Redhill at all and are showing up as no report on RTT so I assume they have been diverted via the quarry line.

In addition, when stating the Thameslink services, it says trains won't call at Merstham, Coulsdon South or Earslwood. So why not include Redhill in ether too, its clear trains aren't stopping there so why the complete lack of clarification?

I got caught up in a landslip at this location once. Had to reverse back from Redhill and take the Quarry lines.
