I’m aware of the PlusBus options, but are there any daily bus rover tickets available that work across the region worth knowing about? Main areas of interest include Preston, Blackpool, Lytham and possibly Fleetwood - especially if it covers the bulk of services in the area. Normally I use the train but the ASLEF strike on 30th Sept makes this kind of difficult! TIA

Stagecoach have a good selection of options, including the North West 1 Day Explorer which is superb value at £12. Full map of validity here:

Ignore the "see Lancashire" bit on that, it's misleading. Though the Lancashire only one is cheaper, someone has given the price below.

Hi,

Stagecoach is the dominant operator in Lancashire and covers Preston, Blackpool and Lytham. There is no stagecoach service to Fleetwood, however. The dayticket is £9.20, though you may find it cheaper utilising the £2 single fare depending on what journeys you are making.

There is also the Lancashire County Council dayticket at £8. This is ONLY valid on subsidised services. It is possible to get from Preston to Fleetwood (74/75) and from Preston to Blackpool (by changing to the 76 at Poulton), or Lytham (76 or 78 at Kirkham or Poulton). If you take this option you will not be allowed to take the direct stagecoach services 61/68.

Unless you are planning on a longer trip, I think a combination of £2 singles would represent the best value and would give you the most flexibility.

Preston - Lytham, Lytham-Blackpool, Blackpool-Preston for £6

Preston-Lytham, Lytham-Blackpool, Blackpool-Fleetwood, Fleetwood-Preston for £8.

I had seriously considered the 3 day North West Explorer which, at £26 = £8.66 daily to be a good saving over the 1 day £12 but I hadn’t factored in the current £2 journey cap (which Scotland doesn’t have). As I already had the Stagecoach app I only had to switch it to Lancashire and all the options came up. Seemingly I cannot buy more than 3 ‘Bus Fare Cap Singles’ at one time, but that’ll work well for me as the m-tickets will take most of the strain. I’m just happy I’ll getting the cheaper journeys before the new £2.50 rate comes in.

Shame the Blackpool journey will take 3 times longer than the train would but considering the cost saving I’ll see more of the country and I’ll pay more attention to bus options in future! Tks again.
