Lancashire Day Ranger

I'm route-planning for September and an option I have is to take the 0916 ex-Manchester Piccadilly to Lancaster.
On NRE this looks ok as it stops at Oxford Road, Wigan NW and Preston.
But looking at RTT it seems the train travels through Eccles before turning north towards Preston (at Parkside Jct?) which isn't on the Ranger map.
So does that mean I cannot use this train?

This is the TPX Manchester Airport to Scotland service, re-routed via Wigan following electrification through Patricroft and introduction of Class 350s.
The current map date is 2013, and these don't always get updated straight away following new routes or variations like this, which returned services to the Lowton curve late last year.
I would double check with Transpennine Express to be sure (their helpline is quite good), but would hope/expect validity to be extended to cover this new route, which is a re-route of the service which used to run via Bolton.

The Greater Manchester Day Ranger is valid via this route to Wigan. And a few years ago I used a Cheshire Day Ranger from Crewe to Chester via Middlewich - a diversionary route not shown on the map for the Ranger.

That's different though surely as that was a diversion, whereas this was a permanent change. I have been on trains with split tickets and the train has diverted away from a station I had split at. I was not required to alight as the diversion was only announced after departure

I am sure you will not have a problem, the only stretch not on the old map is Wigan NW to Parkside Jct. (where there is no station anyway). A journey from Wigan NW to Manchester Oxford Road is between two points which are included in the validity of the ticket. I used this ticket earlier in the year for a Manchester-Lancaster journey via Wigan on a 185, before many of the 350s were in traffic, without any trouble. The GMPTE map for the Wayfarer ticket has now been updated to show the new route, you can of course use this ticket for a Manchester Airport-Wigan journey with TPE now.

Just to confirm I had a Lancashire Day Ranger yesterday and travelled from Lancaster to Manchester Piccadilly on a TPE service and the ticket inspector didn't query the route taken.
