My friend who lives in Red Lodge is convinced that there is a Lakenheath service but I am yet to get there! I am travelling from Colchester and am trying the National Rail website but it says that it doesn't recognise one of my station names despite giving it an abbreviation of LAK when I enter Lakenheath. Can anyone shed any light at all please?

Make sure you set the correct date before searching - Lakenheath doesn't have any Monday-Friday service; just one train in each direction on Saturdays and three trains in each direction on Sundays (according to Wikipedia).

It exists, but only has one train each way per day on Saturdays and three on Sundays. If you're searching during the week, it may not work.

Times for Lakenheath (LAK) are shown in table 17 of the National Rail Timetable.

It has a very limited service, which I have noted below:

Mondays to Fridays:
No Service

Saturdays:
1026 to Cambridge (0940 Norwich to Cambridge service)
1540 to Norwich (1512 Cambridge to Norwich service)

Sundays:
0949, 1149 & 1549 to Cambridge
0917, 1117, 1320 & 1620 to Norwich.
