La Sagrera station, Barcelona

This station was supposed to be finished in 2016 to provide an Interchange between AVE and local services. I'm in BCN at the moment and it still seems to be a gigantic hole in the ground with odd concrete structures covered in graffiti.

Anybody know what's happening? Tried Googling without much success - no doubt doing this in Spanish or Catalan might be more effective but my command of those languages is insufficient.

Wikipedia says works suspended since 2014 due to corruption!!

I tried using Google translate, and it seems the corruption included safaris, skiing holidays and €5000 for petrol a year.

As for the future, my translating skills fail a bit, but it seems like works in nearby Prim and St Andreu Arenal have to be done urgently, then they will think about starting works again in autumn.

You really have to see the size of the hole to see what a massive disaster it is. Meanwhile, Sants seems to be coping perfectly well with its long-distance services, and actually the local network as well.
