I used to commute on them - not the 504s, their predecessors, the original L & Y steel bodied coaches. Does anybody know of one anywhere?

Pretty sure they were all scrapped back when they were withdrawn in the 50s.

Thank you for that, very interesting reading. (I remember the Tyneside units being on the Southern region, mainly in Kent I think, but we had them on local services from Waterloo too., Still had first class compartments, declassified on the Shepperton Branch, <I think>. )
