My guess is 31128 taking 47715 which is appearing at their diesel gala, though that's not till June. But just speculation.

I believe it's going to the KWVR for a reasonable amount of time to help cover for locos including the 37.

Are there expectations of a bumper spring and summer at the KWVR, with flocks of visitors and tourist to the area……. courtesy of Margot and Jacob!

Who are Margot and Jacob?
The actors in the Wuthering Heights film that came out recently.

The 31 or the 47?

The 37 is looking rather dumped at Oxenhope at the moment.

I think it will still be a while before the 25 is back too.

A Europhoenix 37 and 31108 were announced a few weeks ago on their Facebook page but I can’t seem to find it. If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.
Also here is a picture of 37075 dumped at Oxenhope, still has the union flag from the 1940s weekend when it failed.

As I thought, Europhoenix 37 and 31108, but no mention of 31128 or 47715. I'm seriously hoping for something Maybach - as far as I know, Hymeks and Warships never seem to visit KWVR.

As for 37075, didn't a key component get sent for repairs?

Has 47715 actually been publically announced for the diesel gala? If it has, not again! :|
I have been on KWVR website under latest news but is in fact way out of date as it mentions 55009, 47714 and 47715 for the diesel gala which of course was last year's line up!! It does say 2025. Their events page for the gala is up to date though.
My guess of 31128 and 47715 on Tuesdays journey from Prince's Risborough is not too wide of the mark as they are both stabled at P. Risborough right now but not close enough to be coupled.

My bad 37418 and 47715

31128 went light to Burton, 37418 went light to Derby.

I understand the plan is that 47715 will be spending the main bulk of the season at the KWVR to provide large diesel loco cover due to the absence of both 20031 and 37075. D0226 is also unavailable.

D9520 is not suited to the larger trains, so a larger diesel loco is required on site.

Repairs to 20031 and D0226 are underway.

Can I ask what's gone so wrong with the Diesel Fleet? It's surprising that so much has gone out of service at once. (Not that I'm complaining, I fancy a couple of photos of 47715 in its new livery)

It was only a small fleet to begin with. The 20 has been unreliable and is too small, the 37 suffered a major failure. Vulcan is too small, Class 14 is too small. The railcars are great but don’t offer enough capacity during peak season. The Class 25 was due back from overhaul, but presumably is delayed if an additional diesel is needed to be hired.

It’s not necessarily a diesel issue, the steam fleet is also short of engines that can pull 5/6 carriages up the gradients including a heavy catering vehicle. It’s a problem that has only come about with how popular the railway and wider area is recently.

There is also a huge demand on the KWVR fleet. No off season running weekends all year, steep gradients and regular engineering trains keep the fleet very busy and well used. On top of it all being old...

I have been told by a friend on the inside that 47715 is going to be based at KWVR for a while, as home not hired by what I have heard

What happened to D0226 and 20031? 20031 only recently came out of overhaul (and is now numbered D8031, on the loco itself), so it's pretty poor that it's failed already!

I have seen on social media that 47715 is going to KWVR for an extended period including the diesel gala due to shortages in the home diesel fleet.

Diesel Gala & Diesel Fleet News

We're delighted the share that Class 47, 47715 will be joining us later today to support our Diesel Fleet & star in our June Diesel Gala with thanks to Mike Vaughan/Rail Engineering Solutions.

Having only visited last year, the locomotive became a favourite of Crews and now wears a new colour scheme to that or it's previous visit! It will also see use on KWVR Diesel diagrams alongside resident Class14, D9520 throughout the Spring & Summer.

The Class 47 joins previously announced Class 31, 31108 and a Class 37 courtesy of Europhonix Rail with many more to come!

Other Diesel Fleet News:

Class 20, D8031 - outshopped late last year in stunning BR Green, the locomotive suffered a fault whilst hauling one of our Elf Explorer trains and investigations are ongoing as to the cause of the fault. It's currently not expected to take part in our Diesel Gala.

Class 37, 37075 - the locomotive remains out of use whilst the Owning Group make plans for repair & overhaul.

Class 25, 25059 - Undergoing an extensive refurbishment at Barrow Hill by contractors. The locomotive is expected to return in 2027.
This is the update from the railway
