Does anyone know the reason why trains on the Knaresborough - York line always break sharply before a crossing a little way towards York after Knaresborough station? The crossing seems to be a self-operated one, and the gates are sometimes left flapping open, which I suppose could be partially it.
However, there now seems to be a routine set for slowing for this crossing - does anyone know why, and if this crossing has been particularly problematic in the past?
